From the summit of the Great Falkenstein you can see the great Arber, the great Osser, the city of Zwiesel and the great Rachel, which is the highest mountain in the national park.

It is possible to ascent via numerous hiking trails. They start from Zwieslerwaldhaus, Kreuzstrassel and Scheuereck and take about 2 hours. A popular sight is the Höllbachgspreng, a rock area with a creek which springs from a deep crack and flows over numerous waterfalls down to the Höllbachschwelle, a small lake.
